Annapolis

Annapolis is not only the capital of Maryland, it’s also known as the “Sailing Capital of America.”

It covers approximately 8 square miles, including waterways, and has a population of over 35,000 people. With Washington DC 27 miles to the west, Baltimore 27 miles to the North, blue ribbon school districts, and outstanding views of the Chesapeake Bay, Annapolis is a wonderful place to live for families and commuters alike.

Over four million visitors come to Annapolis each year. Though it was first settled in 1649 (by Puritans fleeing Virginia) it served as the Capital of the United states in 1783 & 1784. Annapolis is still the county seat for Anne Arundel County. It also hosts The United States Naval Academy as a Federal enclave within the city, and is home to St. John’s College.

The lovely Historic District in downtown Annapolis was registered with the Department of Interior in 1984. To this day, state and county office buildings are designed to harmonize with the original Georgian architecture of the community. Many communities live within a short walk to the beautiful historic shops, restaurants, and waterways that make Annapolis great.

This guide will introduce you to some of the wonderful neighborhoods within the Annapolis area. Please feel free to contact Carol if you have any questions–she is dedicated to helping you find the home that fits your family’s needs.
